Maurice Brady

CAMP POINT — Maurice "Maurie" E. Brady, 84, of Camp Point passed away at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Born Nov. 7, 1929, in Pittsfield, Maurice was a son of Merle and Gladys Taylor Brady. He married Eloise Joan Roy Nov. 4, 1950, in Mt. Sterling. She survives.

Maurice farmed all his life in the Clayton area. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Adams County Farm Bureau, Concord Township Board Trustee, Central Quarterback Club and had served on the Central School District 3 School Board. Maurice coached Clayton Little League and Pony League, American Legion Baseball, and Camp Point Co-op 4-H girls softball. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and a great card player.

Survivors include Joan, his wife of 63 years; seven children, Janet (Ruben) Luna of Geneva, Teresa Brady of Camp Point, John (Janice) Brady of Clayton, Richard Brady of Camp Point, Ellen (Steve) King of Oak Brook Terrace, Marcia (Gary) Blessman of Princeton and Matt Brady of Camp Point; 16 grandchildren, Mary Beth (Mike) Mediana, Catherine Luna, Andrea (Levi) Ellexson), Elaine Brady, Kyle Brady, Nathan (Michelle) Brady, Kristen (Travis) Boylen, Jahnee (Jamie) Hillen, Jamie (Steve) Fifarek, Luke (Jae) Brady, Alexandra King, Erica Blessman, Julie Blessman, Drew Blessman, Scott Blessman and Stephanie Blessman; 15 great-grandchildren, Juliet and Rose Mediana, Shea and Caleb Ellexson, Jordyn, Breannia and Josie Hughes, Brady and Zeiger Boylen, Jake, Jordan and Josie Hillen, Parker and Audrey Fifarek, and Lahna Brady; two brothers, Norbert Brady of Denver, Colo., and Donald Brady (Judy) of Surprise, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Brady; and a brother, Charles Brady.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point with the Rev. Thomas Henseler officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point.
