SPRINGFIELD (AP) – U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk is at home recovering from surgery to remove his gallbladder.
The Republican from Highland Park underwent the common procedure Monday morning at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital.
Kirk tweeted “It’s good to be home” Tuesday afternoon.
The physician who performed the surgery says the gallbladder procedure was not related to a stroke Kirk suffered last year. He returned to work in Congress earlier this year.
A spokesman says Kirk will miss work in Washington this week before Congress recesses for a holiday break.
