Shirley Magnuson

PRINCETON — Shirley Magnuson, 92, of Princeton passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at Colonial Rehab and Nursing Center in Princeton.

Born Feb. 17, 1921, in Cabery, Ill., to William and Eda (Farley) Watts, she married James Magnuson June 8, 1940, in Paxton, Ill. He preceded her in death.

She was the financial secretary for Princeton High School for 20 years. She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church.

Surviving are her children, James V. Magnuson of Bull Valley, Lynda (John) Smith of Princeton and Jack (Dr. Nancy Whereatt) Magnuson of Sugar Grove; nine grandchildren, Arvid (Avery) Magnuson, Julia (Kelly) Goalby, Amy (John) Sullivan, Matthew Smith, Alison (Ryan) Williams, Jessica (Michael) Busbee, Rachael (Dr. Thomas) Gehlbach, Gunnar Magnuson and Anders Magnuson; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.

All services will be private and at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Evangelical Covenant Church.

The Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton is caring for the family.
