John Dolan

DWIGHT, Ill. — Mr. John “Jack” Ellis Dolan, 72, of Dwight, Ill., passed away at his home at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

His services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, with visitation for two hours prior to the services, at the Hager Funeral Home in Dwight. The Rev. Oliver Zivney will officiate, and VFW Post #2608 will perform military rites. His inurnment will be at a later date.

Jack was born in Morris, Ill., on Aug. 18, 1940, to John Leroy and Kathryn Miller Dolan.  He married Linda Fieldman Emmons on Jan. 10, 1989. He was formerly married to Karen Bruback. Both survive.

He is also survived by 12 children and step-children, Tammie (Kevin) Johnson of Diamond, Ill.; Jim (Amanda) Emmons, Jerry (Erin) Emmons, Jeff (Katie) Emmons, Casey (Stefanie) Dolan, Jason Emmons, and Justin (Kayla) Emmons, all of Dwight; Joe (Laura) Dolan of Washington, Ill.; Jackie (Gary) Hardwick of Virginia; Robin (John) Charron of Indiana; and Jill (Brent) Brumley and Lacy Dolan, both of California.
Other survivors include 21 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce (Don) Hutchings of Morris; and two brothers, Bill Dolan of Minooka, Ill., and Michael (Laima) Dolan of Utica, Ill.

He was educated in the Mazon schools and belonged to the American Legion Post #486.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in Key West, Fla., during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He met President Kennedy when preparing the Naval base.

He enjoyed fishing, model railroading, camping, boating and construction.
