Honor S. Trotter

COAL CITY, Ill. — Mrs. Honor S. Trotter, 59, of Coal City, Ill., passed away Monday afternoon, May 6, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born May 9, 1953, in Joliet, Ill., Honor was a daughter of the late Fred Joseph and Nelle Spiers-Kociss. She was raised and educated in Coal City, and was a 1971 graduate of Coal City High School.

Honor continued her education at the University of Illinois, graduating in 1975, and later earned her master’s degree from Saint Xavier University.

On Oct. 10, 1975, Honor married Neil Lee Trotter in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. Honor taught for Saratoga Grade School District 60C for 33 years, until her retirement.

She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City and The Illinois Education Association. Honor truly loved her school work, as well as following her boys throughout all of their sports activities.

She enjoyed horses and boating, and cherished many memorable trips to Lake Kabatogama in Minnesota, at the Canadian Border.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Neil; two sons, Benjamin Trotter and Nicholas Trotter; and her sister, Kathleen (Jay) VanDuyne, all of Coal City. She is also survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law Deborah (Stephen) Kasak of Champaign and Mark Trotter and Noel (Debi) Trotter, both of Coal City; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; her cousin, Nancy (Chet) Skowronski of Braidwood, Ill.; and many dear and special friends, including Judy Miller, Katherine Chord, Sandy Barbier and Wendy Smith.

Honor was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee St., Coal City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, with the Rev. Robert Noesen officiating.

A memorial luncheon will immediately follow the funeral services in the Berst Center, and a private family inurnment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Braidwood, at a later date.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Eric VanDuyne, Craig VanDuyne, Phil Hertz, John Trotter, Randy Earley, Chad Grunwald, Larry Kargol, Matt Trotter and Chris Kasak.
