PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Donald Leonard Robertson, 80, of Morrison, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, with his loving wife by his side at his winter home in Punta Gorda, Fla.
He was born April 21, 1932, in Morrison, the son of Donald G. and Harriett (Leonard) Robertson. Don graduated from Morrison Community High School and attended Western Illinois University.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. After his return from Korea, Don founded Robertson Contractors, which he owned for more than 35 years until he retired in 1993.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morrison. Don was a devoted family man. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and playing tennis with his many friends in the Morrison area and Punta Gorda.
Don is survived by his wife, Doris (Bartelson Burch) Robertson; children, Robert (Susanne) Burch of Morris, David (Jeanne) Robertson of Sterling, Deborah (Paul) Beck of Morrison, Michael (Christopher Slapak) Robertson of Indianapolis, and Jeffrey Robertson of Morrison; grandchildren, Laura Burch, Jennifer (Christopher) Kristich, Rebecca (Brian) Trusheim, Benjamin Burch, Evan Burch, Kimberly (Lee) Weidel, Nicole (Ben) Weidel, Alyssa Beck, Maxwell Robertson, Alec Robertson, and Anna Robertson; and great-grandchildren, Erin Kristich, Lillian Kristich, Elley Jo Weidel, Bailey Weidel, and Ezekiel Weidel.
He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Inez (Durward) Robertson; sister, Dorothy Esse; and son, William A. Burch.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Morrison.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dr. Michael Robertson at 4203 N. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, IN 46205, to be donated in Donald’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
