The Village of Lombard, Glenbard East and the Lombard Fire Department teamed up this year for the annual food drive to benefit the York Township Food Pantry.
From Nov. 5 to Nov. 9, collection boxes were set up at the village’s municipal buildings, including fire stations, the police station, Village Hall and the public works building, for residents and village employees to donate canned goods, non-perishable food and other household items.
The Student Council at Glenbard East also organized a food drive and encouraged students to donate.
The Lombard Fire Department collected all of the food that had been donated and delivered it to the food pantry on Nov. 9.
“I want to thank the students at Glenbard East High School, and all of the departments of the Village of Lombard for their participation in this public spirited food drive,” said John W. Valle, township supervisor. “We are proud to partner with them in the fight against hunger in our community.”
Anyone interested in making a donation to the food pantry can call Pam Sarno, pantry manager at (630) 620-2400.
