Robert G. Donahue

PERU — Robert G. "Bob" Donahue, 41, of Peru passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012.

Mr. Donahue was born Feb. 22, 1971, in Spring Valley to Rose (Surr) Battaglia. He married Tiffany Rinaldo on June 3, 2006, in Princeton.

Mr. Donahue was a 1989 graduate of St. Bede Academy and later of Illinois Valley Community College. He was an operator at Flint Hills Resources in Peru. Coaching was his passion. He coached Illinois Valley Youth Football for many years, was a football coach at St. Bede Academy for two years and also enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and softball in Spring Valley. He was active in the March of Dimes. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and four-wheeling. Above all, he was a very loving husband and father.

Survivors include his wife, Tiffany of Peru; six children, Devin, Brady, Madison, Taylor, Chloe and Jacob, all at home; his mother, Rose Battaglia of LaSalle; three brothers, William (Lori) Donahue and Benjamin Battaglia, both of LaSalle and Jay (Koren) Battaglia of Batavia; four sisters, Theresa Donahue and Christine (Jamie Wallace) Donahue, both of LaSalle, Laureen (John) Donahue-Grossman of St. Charles and Julie (Garran) Sparks of Batavia and his maternal grandparents, William and Lena Surr of Spring Valley.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Battaglia Jr. and his grandparents, Samuel and Joyce Battaglia Sr.


Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home in LaSalle with Rev. Paul Meismer officiating.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
