Ottawa man sentenced for theft from Menards

An Ottawa man was placed on probation for 30 months and ordered to serve 180 days in jail for having committed retail theft at the Menards store in Morris.

Randy J. Wilcox, 36, was sentenced in circuit court Tuesday for a Class 3 felony charge of retail theft, a crime that he allegedly committed with Kathleen Foster, 45, also of Ottawa.

The charges accused Wilcox and Foster of taking approximately $150 worth of merchandise from the Menards store, 500 Menard Dr., Morris. According to court documents, they tried taking a Stanley Bostich coil roofing nailer, two Master Force drill/impact wrenches and a Paslode cordless framing gun.

Wilcox was also fined $425 and his jail sentence, which acknowledged 59 days already served, will resume Oct. 14, 2011. His probation will expire March 26, 2014.
