Electrolux chooses Minooka for new regional distribution center

MINOOKA — Electrolux Major Appliances North America has chosen Minooka as the new site of the company's regional distribution center for the Midwest, the company announced Thursday morning in a press release.

Operations are expected to become fully operational in October 2011.

The site selection follows an extensive search for a location that optimizes service for customers in a 15-state area. Key to the decision was the ability to reduce current delivery time of major appliances to a significant number of dealers, builders and consumers served by the existing facility in Plainfield, Ind.. The Plainfield facility is scheduled to close in October as the Minooka facility becomes fully operational.

"This new location falls under the Electrolux continuous improvement plan for ensuring products are delivered to our customers at the right time," says Greg Bagwell, VP Demand Flow, Purchasing, CSG-Operations. "The proximity to rail service and major highways makes the location ideal for transporting our products and reducing delivery time."

The 500,000-square-foot facility will store and ship Electrolux, Electrolux ICON and Frigidaire major appliances. It is located approximately 5 miles from the important I-80/I-55 intersection at 801 Midpoint Road in Minooka.

The facility will also boast a 1,200-square-foot showroom of major appliances. The warehouse space incorporates energy saving characteristics such as motion controlled lighting and high efficiency roofing materials.
