Marking milestones in medicine

Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers,  at the annual employee recognition dinner held at Morris Country Club, recently honored 128 employees for reaching milestones in their service years.

Forty-seven employees were honored for five years of service, 30 were honored for 10 years of service, 16 were honored for 15 years, 14 were 20 years of service, 11 for 25 years, seven for 30 years, and two were for 35 years of service.

Dr. John Roth from the Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers' board of directors gave the invocation. Each honoree received a long-stemmed rose and Grundy County Chamber of Commerce gift certificate.
Employees with 20 or more years of service received a keepsake pen engraved with their name and years of service.

It was the first recognition dinner for Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers’ President & CEO Mark Steadham, who joined the organization Sept. 1.

“I can honestly tell you this is the best hospital I’ve ever worked at since my first job as a housekeeper at the age of 15,” Steadham said during his congratulatory remarks to the staff.

“From the moment I first set foot inside Morris Hospital, I noticed a unique friendliness among the staff, a sense of teamwork, and tremendous pride. Each of you has contributed significantly to the success of our organization by remaining and growing with us.

“You are the familiar faces that give our patients and visitors comfort and confidence each time they return to us for care.”

This year’s top honorees were Cathleen Lowery of Morris, Sterile Processing Tech, and Anita Schultz of Minooka, a Licensed Practical Nurse on the 2 East/Pediatrics nursing unit, both with 35 years of service.
