One injured in explosion, fire at HA International

One person was injured in an explosion and fire at an Oregon industrial plant Tuesday afternoon.

Oregon Fire Chief Don Heller said a man working in Plant 2 at HA International, 1449 Devil's Backbone Road was transported by Oregon Ambulance to KSB Hospital, Dixon.

Heller said Tuesday night that no cause had yet been determined for the explosion which occurred in the processing area of Plant 2 shortly after 4 p.m.

"We don't know exactly what happened. We probably won't know for a couple of days," Heller said.

He said plant officials told him the explosion blew out the west wall of Plant 2 and part of the east wall of Plant 3.

A bag house and blower fan were also damaged.

Firefighters from Mt. Morris, Polo, Byron, Stillman Valley, and Dixon Rural Fire Departments assisted Oregon at the scene.

Franklin Grove firefighters manned the Oregon Fire Station.

HA International supplies products for core and mold production, including resins systems for bonding sand; resin coated sand for the shell process; and refractory coatings.

Update:

The man injured at the plant was Jamie Bradbury, 46, Forreston.  Their is no update on his condition.
