Three alleged sex offenders among those indicted

Two charged with acts involving girls under age 13

Three men were indicted for sex offenses, two of them Class X crimes, when the circuit court grand jury convened Wednesday morning.

Indictments were returned against a total of 25 defendants by the grand jury.

Roy Johnsen, 44, 1243 Butler St., was indicted on two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X offense. He was charged with acts involving a girl under 13 between 2001 and 2003.
He was arrested Oct. 15, following a short investigation by Morris police.

Det. Alicia Steffes testified and bond was continued at $10,000 cash.

Ryan Stueck, 20, was indicted on three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. He was charged with acts involving a girl under 13 that occurred in June or July of 2009.

Stueck was arrested last week on a warrant issued Sept. 3, following an investigation by Grundy County detectives.

Det. Dan Winchell testified and Stueck remains in the county jail, unable to post $25,000 bond.

Robert  Fay, 76, Orville, Wash., was indicted on three counts of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony. He was charged with acts involving a girl between June of 1994 and June of 1996.

According to the state’s attorney’s office, the statute of limitations excludes the time the defendant was not a resident of Illinois. Fay has lived in Washington since June of 1996.

A new case in Grundy County, bond was set at $5,000 cash and Det. Steffes testified.

Michael Ryle, 17, 411 Depot St., Gardner, was indicted for possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to report an accident , leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police.

Ryle was charged with driving a Dodge Durango taken from Heather Gassel-Czaja on DuPont Road, on Oct. 27. While fleeing Seneca police, he went off DuPont Road, near Kinsman Road, and into the ditch. Passengers Britney Torino and Blake Bistry suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Ryle ran from the scene and was arrested for trespassing the morning of Oct. 27 at Orica Nitrogen.
Det. Rick Onsen testified and bond was continued at $10,000 cash.

Chauncey Maddox, 45, and Kevin Johnson, 49, both of Chicago, were indicted for burglary. They were charged with entering the Morris Big R store on March 28 with the intention of committing a theft.

They were charged in July, following an investigation by Morris police, with smashing the glass in the entrance doors and taking two gas-powered mini-bikes, valued at  $500 each.

Morris Det. Eric Werden testified before the grand jury.

Jason Ralph, 20, Joliet, was indicted for felony theft. He was charged with taking jewelry from Nancy Holler on June 5.

Det. Craig Meece testified and bond was continued at $300 cash.

Brian Williams, 31, 620 Armstrong St., was indicted for aggravated battery. He was charged Sept. 13 with kneeing Morris Officer Doris Noll. Officer Noll testified and bond was continued at $500 cash.

Jon David Nelson, 38, Gardner, was indicted for aggravated battery. He was charged Oct. 15 with punching Harold Carlson, who was working security at Morris Hospital.

Morris officer Derek Zumbahlen testified before the grand jury.

Shaun Cailey, 21, 2360 Chestnut, was indicted one a count of felony domestic battery. He was charged Oct. 8 with punching and choking a woman. The charge was upgraded to a felony because of a prior conviction June 5, 2007, in Grundy County.

Det. Steffes testified before the grand jury and bond was continued at $1,000 cash.

Rolando Centeno, 19, Minooka, was indicted for aggravated battery. He was charged Oct. 22 with biting Correctional Officer Matthew Walker and kicking Officer Kiley Jungles in the head.

He was originally arrested by Morris police for domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence after he choked and threw a woman to the ground at 1025 DuPont Avenue.

Officer Jungles testified before the grand jury.

Ashley Ingram, 20, N. Illinois 53, Braceville, was indicted for possession of heroin on Oct. 10. Ingram was seen speeding on old Rte. 66 and stopped on Brewster Road. Ingram had a suspended license and, when she got out of the vehicle, dropped a bag containing suspected heroin.

Deputy Paul Clampitt testified.

Anthony Northrup, 26, Weaverville, Calif., and Jorge Armando Betancourt-Mendoza, 19, Santa Ana, Calif, were indicted for possession of more than 5,000 grams of marijuana and possession with intent to deliver, a Class X offense.

They were arrested about 1 p.m. Oct. 23 by Illinois State Police on Interstate 80. Trooper Korando testified before the grand jury. Bond for Northrup was continued at $25,000 and at $22,500 for Betancourt-Mendoza.

Rodney Plasky, 41, La Salle, was indicted for possession of heroin on July 12. He was arrested when Morris police responded to a complaint of a Suburban parked in the Holiday Inn Express lot with the engine running.

Plasky, who was sleeping in the vehicle, was found to have a syringe and suspected heroin.

Timothy Brinkoetter, 24, Braidwood, was indicted for felony obstructing justice. He was charged Oct. 20 with giving a false name, knowing there were valid warrants for his arrest from McLean and Macon counties. He was arrested after a traffic stop at Braceville and Tynan roads.

Deputy Paul Clampitt testified and bond on the obstructing charge was continued at $500 cash.

David Wells, 44, was indicted for obstructing justice. He was charged Oct. 6 with giving a false name to Deputy Brett Black. Deputy Black testified before the grand jury.

Kevin McWilliams, 22, Bolingbrook, was indicted for possession of brass knuckles by a felon and theft of an Apple iBook from Granville Hamilton on Oct. 4.

The charge was upgraded to a felony because of a prior conviction for aggravated robbery in 2005 in Cook County.

Minooka Officer Sean Wojtczak testified and bond was continued at $1,000 cash.

Ann Marie Stochl, 38, 415 W. Jefferson St., Gardner, was indicted for deceptive practice. She was charged with cashing at Marketti BP in April and May 11 checks that were not paid by Washington Mutual.

Det. Winchell testified before the grand jury and bond was continued at $300 cash.

Frank Cisneros, 49, was indicted for illegal possession of a vehicle registration sticker on Oct. 16.

Felony DUIs

Cindy Hodges, 47, was indicted for felony DUI on Sept. 6. She was charged with driving a GMC on Illinois 47. The charge was upgraded to a felony because of two priors -  Sept. 3, 2001, in Kane County, and Dec. 27, 2007,in Kendall County.

Grundy County Det. Winchell testified.

Carlos Toledo-Ruiz, 33, was indicted for felony DUI. He was charged Oct. 5 on Interstate 55 while driving a green Ford with Michigan plates.The charge was upgraded because he did not have a valid license at the time.

Trooper Korando testified and bond was continued at $300 cash.

Charles Matlock, 48, Williford, Ark., was indicted for felony DUI. He was charged Oct. 2 with driving an Oldsmobile on Illinois 47, from Gardner Road. The charge was upgraded because of priors June 6, 1997, in Kane County; May 24, 1998, in Kendall County; and June 7, 1998, in Kendall County, and the fact his license was revoked in Illinois at the time.

Deputy Kenneth Unland testified and bond was continued at $300 cash.

Walter Kwak, 45, Homer Glen, was indicted for felony DUI. He was charged Oct. 3 with driving a Volvo truck on Ottawa Drive in Minooka while intoxicated.

Minooka Officer Wojtczak testified and bond was continued at $300 cash.

Johnny Cartlidge, 45, was indicted for felony driving with a revoked license. He was charged Oct. 2 on Interstate 55. The charge was upgraded because of priors Aug. 6, 1987, in St. Claire County; May 5, 2001, in Madison County; and May 19, 2006, in Cook County.

Trooper Korando testified and bond was continued at $100.

Scott Smith, 38, 415 W. Jefferson St., Gardner, was indicted for felony driving with a revoked license. He was charged Oct. 9 at Jackson and North streets, Gardner. He had prior convictions July 11, 1993, in Will County; July 25, 1995, in Grundy County; July 24, 2000, in Will County; and July 30, 2003, in Grundy County.

Det. Craig Meece testified and bond was continued at $100 cash.
