Ralph Glaser

ROCHELLE – Ralph J."Bud" Glaser, 94, of Rochelle, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Rochelle Rehabilitation and Health Care. He was a farmer.

Bud was born Dec. 22, 1914, in Sublette, the son of William and Anna (Dinges) Glaser. He married Arlene M. Schinzer on Feb. 14, 1942, in Sublette. She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2008. Bud was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rochelle, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Dixon Elks BPOE 779. He thoroughly enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren; was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; and enjoyed flower gardening and woodworking.

Survivors include one son, Robert (Karole) Glaser of Oregon; one daughter, Beverly (Dale) Sanders of Machesney Park; one brother, Francis Glaser of Mendota; three sisters: Lucille Farley of Princeton, Helen Thier of Mendota, and Teresa Didier of Franklin Grove; four grandchildren, Lisa (James) Winters, Matt (Ann) Glaser, Scott (Rachel) Sanders, and Laura (Bill) Ahern; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob and Emma Winters.

He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo, Kenneth, Urban, and Wilfred "Bill"; and four sisters, Clara Fisher, Bernice Lauer, Irene Steinman, and Velma Hoerner.

The funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rochelle, with the Rev. David Peck officiating. Burial is at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Mary Cemetery, Sublette. Visitation is 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church. Arrangements were completed by Unger-Horner Funeral Home, Rochelle.

A memorial has been established to Ogle County Hospice.
