STERLING – Willie M. Randle, out on parole on a six-year sentence for dealing cocaine, was arrested Wednesday with 143 grams in his possession, Sterling police said.
Randle, 29, of Sterling, is charged with possession with intent to deliver, which carries 9 to 40 years in prison.
He was arrested during a parole compliance check at his home, Detective Sgt. Tim Morgan said.
He was in Whiteside County jail today on a $500,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is March 27.
Randle was convicted of dealing cocaine in January 2003. He was sentenced to 6 years plus $20,000 in fines and fees in March 2005, Whiteside County court records show.
Also a reputed local gang member, Randle was shot July 9 under the 11th Street bridge in Rock Falls.
In December, citing inadequate forensic evidence, a judge found rival gang member DeAngelo A. Davis, of Sterling, not guilty of the shooting.
