Silver Cross COVID-19 case numbers still low, positivity rate drops

Just under 600 tests have been conducted in four days

The number of hospitalizations at Silver Cross in New Lenox increased by one Monday to 52 since Thursday, but other numbers show more positive numbers. One person was awaiting test results.

According to the hospital’s COVID-19 daily dashboard page, it has tested 40,736 people since March. As of Thursday, it had tested 40,164 people and after testing nearly 600 more, its seven-day positivity rate dropped from 9.1% to 8.9%.

Of those 600 tests, 41 people tested positive, according to the dashboard. The dashboard, on Thursday, displayed 2,758 positive tests, and on Monday displayed 2,799.

The hospital also discharged 23 COVID-19 patients since Thursday, bringing its total to 1,626 since March.

The dashboard also shows that the number of patients on a ventilator increased by one since Thursday, and the number of patients with COVID-19 in the intensive care unit remained at six.

The number of hospitalizations are nowhere near as low was they were around July, but has been trending downward since peaking at 125 in November.
