Plainfield Police Department to host National Night Out Aug. 3

Attendees can test their strength pulling an armored truck at the free event

The Plainfield Police Department is set to host its National Night Out event next week for families to enjoy food and multiple activities.

The free, annual event aims to highlight the relationship between community members and their local police department.

Plainfield’s National Night Out will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Settler’s Park, located at 24401 W. Lockport St. behind Plainfield Village Hall.

The event will include live music, bounce houses, and a community organization expo. The department will serve free food.

Visitors will be able to dunk the Plainfield police chief. The event will also feature an armored truck challenge for anyone willing to show off their strength.

The department asks those interested to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Plainfield Interfaith Food Pantry. The organization aims to fill its transport van with donations.
