Romeoville Mayor John Noak earned an appointment to the National League of Cities 2021 Transportation and Infrastructure Services Federal Advocacy Committee.
Noak was appointed to a one-year term on the committee to provide direction and guidance for the NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities, according to a news release.
“I believe it is important and beneficial for Romeoville to have a voice in the decisions made by this group of officials,” Noak said in the release. “We are still growing as a community and transportation and infrastructure is vital to that growth.”
The committee shapes the NLC’s advocacy on behalf of cities and towns across the country before Congress.
Kathy Maness, a council member from Lexington, South Carolina, and the president of the NLC, said the committee members are “the voices of what’s happening on the ground in our communities.”
“Together with a team of local leaders from around the country, we will work to solve the most pressing challenges facing our communities,” Maness said in the release.
The committee also includes leaders from Rancho Cordova in California, Boise, Idaho and Arlington, Texas.
Noak has served as mayor in Romeoville since 2008.
