Donate blood on Wednesday in Plainfield

Plainfield Fire Protection District will host a community blood drive with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois

Versiti’s mobile collections were down more than 20,000 units of blood for 2021, according to a Dec. 2 Herald-News story.

To help replenish area hospitals, The Plainfield Fire Protection District will host a community blood drive with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois on Wednesday.

The blood drive will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Fire District Administration and Training Facility, located at 23748 W. 135th St. in Plainfield.

One blood donation can help up to three people, according to a news release from the district. Anyone age 16 or older is eligible to donate blood.

Bring a picture ID and eat a good meal prior to donating. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.
