Navy culinary specialist from Plainfield put her skills to a good cause

Leslie Hamilton of Plainfield, a culinary specialist third class, recently created a special cake in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month

Hamilton was serving aboard amphibious transport dock USS Portland, according a news release from the Navy.

Portland is underway as part of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group and conducts routine training off the coast of southern California, according to the news.

The 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Amphibious Squadron 1, and ships are designated together as an ARG, the release said.
