A Joliet man is charged with aggravated driving under the influence in a Jan. 28 crash that left a 17-year-old hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
On Wednesday, William Hutchinson, 31, surrendered himself at the Joliet Police Department after a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of aggravated DUI and reckless conduct.
Hutchinson was the driver of the Honda CR-V involved in the multi-vehicle crash at North Broadway and Ingalls Avenue, according to Joliet Police Sgt. Dwayne English.
“Investigators determined that Hutchinson was impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash, which resulted in injuries to himself and two other drivers,” English said.
One of the drivers was a 17-year-old from Addison, who was extricated from his vehicle by paramedics and flown to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, English said.
The investigation also revealed Hutchinson was involved in a separate crash on North Broadway Street and Ruby Street shortly before the other crash, English said.
No injuries were reported in that crash, he said.
The court docket on Thursday showed a judge granted a request by prosecutors to keep Hutchinson in jail under the SAFE-T Act.
