Sublette Fire Department needs volunteers, holding open house

SUBLETTE – An open house for potential firefighters and EMS personnel will be held at 2 p.m. March 21 at Sublette Fire Department, 300 Virginia St.

The fire department is looking for help covering Sublette, West Brooklyn, Maytown and Woodhaven Lakes communities. Training will be paid for by the department.

Sublette Fire responds to a little more than 200 calls every year, and in 2020, logged nearly 1,300 EMS call hours.

“On a national trend, volunteerism is down, as fire and EMS compete with more availability of family and social activities along with busy work schedules. However, fire and EMS work is extremely rewarding and we need more dedicated, community-minded people to help keep this critical service helping our small town,” said Nick Dinges of Dinges Fire Co.
