Eastland team helps Freeport nuns with furniture move

LANARK — The Eastland boys basketball team was busy on and off the hardcourt during Christmas break.

In addition to hosting its own tournament, the team also made time to help the Blue Nuns move heavy furniture at the Madonna Renewal Center in Freeport last week.

The Madonna Center is run by the Blue Nuns where they help unwed mothers and their babies.

Teammates helping with the move were: Brady Sweitzer, Kellen Henze, Trevor Janssen, Carson Heckman, Gavin Sigel, Shay Schramm, Hudson Groezinger, Kalen Keim, Carsen Heeren, Max McCullough, Tanner Stern, Lowden Preston and Jaxson Sturtevant.

Andy Anderson and Allyn Geets were unable to assist due to other commitments.

The Blue Nuns, originally from Nigeria, names are: Sister Ozy, Sister Chinweze and Sister Andre. Karl Henze, and Yvonne Nelson.

Coach Tyler Zumdahl were instrumental in getting the boys on board to help the Nuns.
