The Byron Tigers won the 2A Supersectional in Sterling on Monday, March 4, 2024 when they beat Chicago Latin 85-71 to advance to the state finals this week in Champaign. Byron will play Benton at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday in the semifinals. The 2A championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m.

With the win, the Mustangs advance to the Prophetstown Regional to face Rock Falls on Wednesday, Feb. 21. Game time is 6 p.m. Chase Newman led Morrison with 13 points followed by DeShaun McQueen with 12. Oregon was led by Keaton Salsbury with 17 points and Jameson Caposey with 15 pts.
