Clearbrook West offers vocational training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The nonprofit’s training programs helps participants develop employment-related skills such as interviewing, submitting applications, and basic on-the-job skills training.
Naturally Gifted is one of their vocational training opportunities. Located in the Crystal Lake Plaza on Northwest Highway, it doubles as a small store selling candles, sugar scrubs, soaps, and more, made from therapeutic essential oils. Program participants help make the products, sort inventory, and practice customer service working in the store.
Before the individuals start working at Naturally Gifted, they follow a 12-week curriculum to learn more about the employment process. This curriculum integrates classroom learning, hands-on skill development, and community job shadowing. The classroom learning objectives include developing interpersonal skills, appropriate work behaviors and relationships, gaining confidence and independence in relation to employment, resume writing, and interview skills.
All products sold at Naturally Gifted are homemade, organic, and made with therapeutic essential oils. You can visit Naturally Gifted at 6500 Northwest Highway Unit 2B. They are open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
