Police still investigating bicycle vs. car crash that caused Woodstock man life-threatening injuries

No charges or citations issued as of Tuesday and crash remains under investigation

The cyclist who suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision with a car last week in Woodstock remains at a Libertyville hospital, Woodstock Police Department said Tuesday.

Officials are still investigating the crash, which took place around 7:15 p.m. June 30 at the intersection of Dean Street and Lucas Road.

The bicyclist, who police identified as a 52-year-old Woodstock resident, was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center by helicopter after he was involved in a crash with a Ford Focus driven by a 28-year-old Sycamore man, according to the release.

Woodstock’s Deputy Police Chief Ray Lanz was unable to provide the man’s condition Tuesday, saying only he was stable.

The motorist involved in the incident refused medical attention after the crash, police said in a news release.

No legal charges have been filed in relation to the incident.

Officers from the Major Crash Assistance Team as well as five other area police departments responded to the scene to investigate the crash, which is still being actively looked into, the release said.

The Major Crash Assistance Team is asking anyone witnessed the crash, or has any information pertaining to the incident, to call Woodstock police at 815-338-2131 and speak with Sgt. Pritchard or Detective Dolan.
