Woodstock High School seeks nominations for Distinguished Alumni recognitions

Woodstock High School is seen Aug. 4, 2020

When Woodstock High School celebrates the school building’s 100th anniversary, it will also name the first recipients of its Distinguished Alumni Award.

Anniversary committee members are accepting nominations now, and the first winner or winners will be recognized at the 100th year celebration planned for Oct. 3, according to a news release.

While the fall event will mark the first Distinguished Alumni Award, organizers plan to issue the award each year, probably around football homecoming week, according to the release.

Nomination forms, both online and print, are available by clicking the alumni tab at woodstockschools.org/bluestreaks100. The deadline is Aug. 1, and once nominations are made, they will remain valid for five years.

“We invite the WHS community to nominate a graduate who reflects our school’s mission and vision in his or her profession, volunteerism, community involvement, and/or civic affiliations. The Woodstock High School Distinguished Alumni Award will recognize and honor graduates who have made significant and noteworthy accomplishments in their chosen careers and/or have made positive contributions to society,” according to the website.

Woodstock High School has had “great success” with its Athletic Hall of Fame, the district said in the release, but organizers are looking forward to celebrating other outstanding contributions that Blue Streaks have made in many fields.
