Bicyclist flown with ‘life-threatening injuries’ after Woodstock crash

A collision with a small passenger vehicle resulted in ‘multiple traumatic injuries’ for the bicyclist, Woodstock Fire/Rescue District says

A bicyclist was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with injuries that were life-threatening after a collision involving a car Wednesday evening in Woodstock, the fire officials said Thursday.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded at 7:17 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Dean Street and Lucas Road south of Woodstock where crews found a small passenger vehicle in the intersection and an unconscious person down on the roadway, according to a news release.

Immediate lifesaving measures started for the bicyclist who had suffered “multiple traumatic injuries” in the collision, according to the release. Because of the severity of injuries, LifeNet was requested, and a helicopter landed nearby in the football field of Creekside Middle School, 3201 Hercules Road.

The bicyclist was then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with injuries that were life-threatening, according to the release.

The driver, the sole occupant of the car, declined medical attention, according to the release.

The Woodstock Police Department and Major Crash Assistance Team is investigating the crash. An attempt to reach the Woodstock Police Department was not successful Thursday afternoon.
