Marengo-based attorney recognized by McHenry County Bar Association

Attorney Steve Greeley recognized for community service, including with Prairie State Legal Services where he’s volunteered since 2003

Attorney Steve Greeley of Marengo-based Franks, Gerkin, Ponitz & Greeley law offices was presented with a McHenry County Bar Association award for his “outstanding effort to help McHenry County,” the firm said in a news release.

Greeley served as the president of the McHenry County Bar Association from 2018 to 2019 and has been a volunteer with Prairie State Legal Services since 2003, according to the release. Greeley became the president of the Prairie State Legal Services’ board in 2018 after serving on the board for five additional years before that.

Greeley also sat on the McHenry County Historic Preservation Commission since 2009 and served as its chairperson twice, first from 2013 to 2015 and again from 2019 to the present day, according to the release.

Other volunteer work includes giving free legal advice to those in needs on Saturdays through Volunteer Administer Justice, helping out-of-work parishioners with resume and interview skill through St. Mary Catholic Church Job Ministry and assisting with local Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops packing seeds for the poor in Africa and filling sandbags during the 2017 Fox River flooding, according to the release.

“At Franks Gerkin Ponitz & Greeley, we are committed to public service and are grateful for our clients who make this possible,” the firm said in the release. “We are proud of Steve’s accomplishments and continuing the legacy of public service of our Senior Partner Herb Franks.”

Greeley has been with Gerkin Ponitz & Greeley since 2006 where he is currently a partner, according to his LinkedIn profile.
