Algonquin asks residents to weigh in on flooding

A flood questionnaire for Algonquin residents was released this week in order to gather data for the village's stormwater master plan.

The village of Algonquin wants to know more about the flooding residents are experiencing, issuing a survey it will use in an engineering study.

The survey, released on the village’s website this week, is being conducted as part of the village’s stormwater master plan to find out where residents are experiencing flooding problems, Public Works Director Bob Mitchard said.

The survey asks residents to identify which kinds of flooding they have experienced in their homes, including overbank or overland flooding, sewer backup or seepage through the basement floor.

The responses will be used to help in an engineering study to identify potential solutions to the flooding problems, according to the survey.

The survey can be found at surveymonkey.com/r/algonquinstormwater.
