Marengo’s Bella Frohling has emerged as one of the area’s top scorers this season.

During the week of Jan. 23, the Indians’ sophomore standout led her team in scoring with 20 points in a Kishwaukee River Conference win against Richmond-Burton, 12 points in a KRC win against Woodstock and 12 points in a nonconference loss to Byron.

The Indians remain in the hunt for the KRC title and trail conference co-leaders Woodstock North and Johnsburg by one in the loss column with two games remaining. Marengo has won the past three KRC titles.

Frohling has been a big part of the Indians’ success.

“We want her to shoot anytime she’s open,” Marengo coach Elisa Hanson said. “Not only is she making some big 3s, she’s just a consistent offensive threat for us. Her all-around game is really starting to come together.”
