The Genoa-Kingston volleyball team advanced to the Winnebago Sectional with a 25-19, 25-19 win over Marengo in the Class 2A Rosary Regional final Thursday.

Kaneland smashed its way into the Class 3A Sycamore Sectional final with a 25-15, 25-20, straight-set win over Crystal Lake South on Monday.

The IHSA Board of Directors voted Wednesday to add state finals competitions in boys lacrosse and boys volleyball. Progress made through the COVID-19 pandemic will make it possible for more travel under IDPH guidelines, meaning those sports will get their state tournaments like other sports.
