Northwest Herald girls track and field preview: 5 to watch in 2026

Addi Busam

Addi Busam, Huntley, sr.

The versatile athlete does a lot for the Red Raiders, who seek their fifth Fox Valley Conference title in a row this spring. Busam capped her junior season with an eighth-place state medal in the Class 3A long jump. She also competed at state on the Raiders’ 4x200 and 4x100 relays. She has qualified for state in the long jump the past two seasons.

Emmie Foster

Emmie Foster, Prairie Ridge, so.

Foster made a smashing debut for the Wolves last spring, earning state medals in both of her distance races in the Class 2A meet. She took fifth in the 3,200-meter run and ninth in the 1,600. She won both events in the FVC Meet. Last fall, she finished second in the Class 2A state cross country meet and was named the 2025 Northwest Herald Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Hope Klosowicz, Johnsburg, sr.

Klosowicz ran the fastest 400-meter race of her career at state last spring and earned a seventh-place medal in Class 2A thanks to a time of 57.83. She also won the 400 in the Genoa-Kingston Sectional and Kishwaukee River Conference Meet. She ran a leg on the Skyhawks’ sectional-winning 4x400 relay, as well.

Olivia Parker

A state qualifier the past two seasons, Parker established herself as one of the state’s best hurdlers last spring. She earned her first state medal thanks to a seventh-place finish in the 300-meter low hurdles in the Class 3A race. The Trojans’ speedy sprinter won the 300 hurdles and 100 high hurdles in both the Huntley Sectional and FVC Meet.

Carly Uehlein

Carly Uehlein, Jacobs, sr.

Uehlein enjoyed a breakout season for the Golden Eagles last year, winning the discus at the Class 3A Huntley Sectional before going on to finish second in the event at state. Her mark of 42.53 meters at state broke her own school record. She also qualified for state in the shot put after finishing fourth in the sectional. She won the discus at the FVC Meet, as well.
