A jet contrail appears in front of the moon Monday near Earlville, creating a stunning cloud cover that appeared like a funnel cloud.

The image was confirmed by WGN-TV Meteorologist Tom Skilling.

“It’s a decaying jet contrail through which the nearly full snow moon was visible. It’s quite a sight,” Skilling said.
