Both drivers treated, released at the scene of Tuesday’s Route 178 crash

Streator motorist cited on a complaint of failure to reduce speed to avoid accident

A 20-year-old Streator man was ticketed Tuesday following a two-vehicle crash at Route 178 and North 24th Road in Deer Park Township.

According to La Salle County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Kim Sharp, 58, of Ottawa, was southbound on Route 178 after 2 p.m. Tuesday and attempted to turn east onto North 24th Road.

Her vehicle was struck from behind by a southbound vehicle driven by Ian McAchran, 20, of Streator. McAchran was cited on a complaint of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Both drivers were treated and released by Utica EMS.
