LA SALLE – The Ottawa boys tennis team picked up a win in singles play and swept all three doubles matches to defeat rival La Salle-Peru 4-1 in an Interstate Eight Conference dual at the L-P Sports Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
The Pirates’ Adam Gross topped the Cavaliers’ Noah Sherman 6-0, 6-0 in singles play, while L-P’s Joe Pohar earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Ottawa’s Ethan Krafft. In doubles, Ottawa’s No. 1 team of Sam Walker and Regan Linde defeated L-P’s Gavin Jonassen and Adam Sarabia 6-4, 6-3; the No. 2 duo of Will Goetz and Tanner Ditchfield beat Traeger Abens and Andrew Bollis 6-2, 6-1; and the No. 3 twosome of Daniel Reinhardt and Logan Goetsch hit past Elijah Arthurs and Lucas Hardy 6-1, 6-0.

Streator 3, St. Bede 1: At St. Bede Academy, the visiting Bulldogs triumphed thanks to wins from Davey Rashid at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-1), Max Baker and Cooper Wahl at No. 1 doubles (6-3, 6-2), and Tyler Mast and Brenden Christiansen at No. 2 doubles (6-2, 6-4).
Softball
Serena 12, Earlville 4; Serena 7, Earlville 4: At Serena, the Huskers (8-4) finished a rain-delayed win from Monday and then finished the sweep, with Taylor Staton pitching the wins in the first (7 IP, 4 ER, 5 K) and second (7 IP, 2 ER, 4 K) games.
A seven-run third was the difference in the opener, with Reese Cole (two RBIs) and Staton (single, double) leading the Serena offense. The second game saw Serena score four in the first and hold on, paced at the plate by two more RBIs from Cole and two-hit games from Emma Holdiman and Paisley Twait.
Paige Marks (2 IP, 2 ER, 2 K) suffered the loss in the opener despite helping herself with a double and RBI, with Hannah Pfaff driving home two and Mady Olson providing two hits. Marks (7 IP, 2 ER, 7 K) also took the decision in the second game despite hitting a solo home run, backed by Brynn Guelde’s two hits for Earlville (3-6).
WFC 14, Midland 4 (6 inn.): At rural Streator, Audrey Jenkins homered twice, singled and drove home three for the Warriors (6-2) in the TCC win. Ella Sibert (three hits including a triple, RBI), Clara Downey (two RBIs) and Emma Highland (two RBIs) also led the Woodland/Flanagan-Cornell attack in support of reliever/winning pitcher Kortney Harms (4 IP, 4 ER, 4 K).
Seneca 9, Henry-Senachwine 0: At Seneca, the host Irish (10-2 overall, 5-0 TCC) rode a one-hit shutout from Taya Roe (7 IP, 0 R, 9 K) and 11 hits to victory.
Allie Arwood homered and drove home two, Maggie Carpenter singled twice, doubled and drove home one, and Maddie Klicker added a pair of hits.
Newark 16, Indian Creek 2 (5 inn.): At Shabbona, the visiting Norsemen (9-2) trailed early but not for long in earning the Little Ten triumph.
Kodi Rizzo (5 IP, 2 ER, 10 K) pitched the win, backed by the batwork of Kaitlyn Schofield (home run, four RBIs), Taylor Kruser (two RBIs), Kailey Wohead (double, three RBIs) and Emily Schofield (two singles). Peyton Wohead scored thrice.

Streator 6, Herscher 5; Streator 11, Herscher 5: At Herscher, a Parker Phillis walk-off won the opener that was suspended Monday, and a seven-run top of the third sealed the IC8 Conference sweep for the Diamond Dogs (10-3).
In the first game, Phillis (two hits, walk-off RBI), Mason Telford (two doubles), Payton Benning (two RBIs) and Jensen Ketcham (home run, two RBIs) led the Streator offense in support of winning reliever Sawyer Good (4 1/3 IP, 0 R, 7 K).
Adam Williamson (5 IP, 1 Er, 6 K) pitched the win in the nightcap, with A.J. Benning (2 IP, 0 R, 4 K) closing it out. Logan Williamson (two doubles, RBI), Sean McGurk (double, two RBIs), Good (double, RBI) and Telford (two singles) paced the offense.

Baker doubled and drove home two, Dylan Cartwright provided two hits and two RBIs, Stafford singled twice, and Tanner Faivre notched two RBIs.

Nolan Bressi singled and tallied three RBIs, Boyles and Will Weber each singled twice and drove home a run, and Carl Sass drove home two for the Warriors.
Marquette 16, Roanoke-Benson 1 (4 inn.): At Masinelli Field, the host Crusaders (3-0, 1-0 TCC) won their Tri-County opener sparked by an 11-run first inning.

Ottawa received singles wins from Sebastian Cabrera (8-1) and Alan Sifuentes (8-6), while the doubles teams of Ethan Hancock/Zander Houk (8-3), Taegeon Eom/Logan Trettenero (8-2), and Rylan Salas/Landen Thorsen (default) each claimed victories.
JV baseball
Marquette 13, Henry-Senachwine 1: At Henry, the Crusaders rolled past the host Mallards.
Marquette was led by three hits each from Ethan Price (two doubles, two RBIs) and winning pitcher Tom Durdan (triple, 5 IP, 2 H, 8 K), while Giffin Walker (double, two RBIs), Aidan Thompson (two RBIs) and Alex Graham (two RBI) had two hits apiece.

Seneca 10, Herscher 6: At Herscher, the Fighting Irish topped the Tigers in the opening game of two, but the second game was called in the second inning due to rain.
Seneca was paced by three hits by Kora Lane (double) and two hits from Lily Kupec (double), while Kadence Ondrey doubled and Emma Augustine tripled. Leilani Zavada (3 H, 5 BB, 10 K) earned the win in the circle.
