STREATOR – How sweep it was for the Streator softball team Tuesday, as the Bulldogs completed a two-game sweep of visiting Wilmington with a 9-7, Illinois Central Eight Conference victory.
Jaelyn Blakemore (6 IP, 4 K) pitched the victory from the circle, with Jadyn Hansen (1 IP, 3 K) closing things down for the save. Rilee Talty with three hits along with two-hit performances from Hansen, Maci Byers and Lilly Kupec led the offense for Streator, which returns to action with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch Thursday at Ottawa.
Seneca 11, WFC 2: At Seneca, the host Fighting Irish moved to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the Tri-County Conference, handing Woodland/Flanagan-Cornell (5-1, 2-1) its first defeat.
Sam Vandevelde tagged two homers, scored four runs and drove in four for Seneca, with Maggie Carpenter (single, triple) and Madi Mino (three hits, RBI) also leading the attack. Carpenter (7 IP, 1 ER, 10 K) earned the win.
Audrey Jenkins singled and tripled, Sydnee Plesko had an RBI, and Shae Simons (6 IP, 7 ER, 3 K) suffered the pitching loss for the Warriors.
Rochelle 8, Sandwich 4: At Sandwich, the host Indians saw Grace Donahue (7 IP, 4 ER, 7 K) take the pitching loss despite a pair of hits from both Donahue (RBI) and Alexis Sexton. Hannah Limon (RBI) doubled.
Earlville 7, Hiawatha 1: In Little Ten competition, the Red Raiders (1-4) scored their initial win of the young season thanks to a four-run third inning and the work of winning pitcher Paige Marks (7 IP, 1 ER, 8 K).
Marks (double, two singles, RBI), Brynn Guelde (single, double, RBI) and Elizabeth Browder (two RBIs) spearheaded the Earlville attack.
Serena 13, Indian Creek 7; Serena 12, Indian Creek 4: At Serena, the Huskers (6-2) finished off a win from a rainy Monday and added another to complete the sweep.
Taylor Staton (7 IP, 3 ER, 8 K) pitched the win in the opener, backed by two RBIs from Paisley Twait, Makayla McNally (single, double) and Staton (single, double) herself.
Staton (7 IP, 4 ER, 2 K) notched another “W” in the second dip, again helping her own cause with two singles, a double, triple and two RBIs. Katie Baker (single, triple) and Emma Montanero (double) also drove in two runs apiece, with McNally and Twait (three runs) also knocking two hits apiece.
Boys tennis
Ottawa 3, Morris 2: In I-8 Conference play, the Pirates prevailed thanks to sweeping doubles play.
Ottawa wins were at No. 1 by Regan Linde and Sam Walker (6-0, 6-1), No. 2 by Will Goetz and Tanner Ditchfield (6-0, 6-1) and No. 3 courtesy of Logan Goetsch and Daniel Reinhardt (6-1, 6-1).
Baseball
Seneca 11, WFC 1 (6 inn.): At Seneca, the host Fighting Irish (6-0) received a single, home run and three runs batted in from Gage Cryder and out-hit the visiting Warriors 14-2 for the Tri-County Conference victory.
Cole Underhill singled, doubled and drove home a run, Tyler Sulzberger and Ethan Brockman each provided two hits and an RBI, and Brockman (3 IP, 0 ER, 4 K) pitched the win.
Carl Sass suffered the pitching loss for the Warriors (0-5), with Ethan Schumm and Will Weber providing WFC’s lone hits.
Indian Creek 7, Serena 2; Indian Creek 3, Serena 2: At Serena, the Huskers dropped a suspended game and the series finale to fall to 4-7 overall, 4-2 in the Little Ten.
Leo Brennan (three hits) and Carson Baker (two hits, RBI) led the Huskers in the opener, with Ivan Stafford (3 2/3 IP, 5 ER, 4 K) taking the pitching loss.
In the second dip, Connor Holdiman (5 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 10 K) pitched a gem but got a no-decision with Hudson Stafford (1 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 2 K) suffering the loss. Stafford provided two hits, and Holdiman drove home a run.
Newark 12, Hinckley-Big Rock 5: At Newark, the Norsemen competed the Little Ten sweep by combining a 12-hit attack with the arm of winning pitcher Dalton Reibel (7 IP, 6 K).
Lucas Pasakarnis, Jared Slivka, Reibel and Tegan Kruser had multiple hits for Newark, with Pasakarnis going 3-for-3.
Earlville 16, Leland 3: On Monday, Griffin Cook homered and drove home two runs, with Bryar Keller and Garett Cook also tallying two RBIs for Earlville.

Seneca 72, Dwight 3; Seneca 57, Morris 18: At Seneca, the Fighting Irish dominated their home-opening triangular.
Scoring wins in both bouts for Seneca were Nathan Elliott at 285 (pinfall, 6-3 dec.), Gavin Robertson at 195 (two pinfalls), Chris Peura at 170/182 (forfeit, pinfall), Asher Hamnry at 145/138 (forfeit, pinfall), Billy Glasscock at 126 (two forfeits), Jaden Casey at 120 (forfeit, pinfall), Kyler Hahn at 113 (two forfeits) and Luke Sangston at 106 (two forfeits).
Girls track and field
Kaneland 95, La Salle-Peru 51, Sandwich 38: At La Salle, the Indians recorded three first-place finishes – the 800 relay team of Ashley Hintz, Nikki Strawn, Miya Klossing and Georgia Vehe (2:07.9), Claire Roberts in the triple jump (10.32 meters) and Claire Allen in the discus (32.83).
Fieldcrest 3rd at Fisher: On Monday, Calli Nix (29-6 in shot put) and Carol Megow (93 7-1/2 in discus) scored wins for Fieldcrest.
Boys track and field
Kaneland 80, Sandwich 60, La Salle-Peru 34: At La Salle, the Indians were runners-up.
Event wins for Sandwich came from Michael Marrs (:10.98 in 100, :22.44 in 200), Ethan Weeks (36.10 meters in discus), Jayden Green (13.84 in triple jump), the 800 relay team of Noah Klossing, Green, Ian Kelson and Marrs (1:34.64), the 1600 team of Steve Aguilar, Kelson, Mendoza and Thompson, and the 3200 team of Aguilar, Mendoza, Luis Baez and Wills.
Fieldcrest 4th at Fisher: On Monday, the Knights received relay wins from Zachary Cremer, Christian Skaggs, Michael Scott and Mason Stoeger (3:52.62) in the 1600 and Skaggs, Scott, Victor Echeveste and Stoeger (9:24.50) in the 3200.
Frosh/soph boys tennis
Ottawa 5, Morris 0: In I-8 play, the Corsairs received singles victories from Sebastian Cabrera (8-0) and Karcin Hagi (8-0) as well as doubled triumphs from Ethan Hancock/Zander Houk (8-2), Taegeon Eom/Ethan Cela (8-6) and Rylan Salas/Landen Thorsen (8-1).
JV softball
Streator 11, Wilmington 0: At Wilmington, the Bullpups avenged a loss the day before as Emma Augustine threw a two-hit shutout and blasted a three-run home run. Kadence Ondrey had two doubles, a single and three RBIs.
