Man in his 40s among two DuPage County COVID-19 deaths reported Monday, 84 new cases

The DuPage County Health Department on Monday reported 84 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 2 deaths: a man in his 40s and a man in his 80s.

The county now has seen a total of 71,370 coronavirus cases including 1,185 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Feb. 9 was 98.2%.

DuPage County has administered 158,409 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 44,341 people, or 4.78% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 33 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 4.2%. Currently, 33% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 71 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 4.6%, and DuPage County is at 4.1%.

Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,246 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 34 additional deaths Monday, and a total of 2,211,700 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,828 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,720, Lombard 3,744, Villa Park 2,233, Hinsdale 1,171, Westmont 1,807, Darien 1,490, Woodridge 2,221, Downers Grove 3,431, Elmhurst 3,660, Warrenville 1,116 and Winfield 924. Addison has had 4,337 confirmed cases, Naperville 6,199, Carol Stream 3,813 and West Chicago 3,894.
