DuPage County COVID-19 cases decrease with 207 infections reported Sunday, four deaths

The DuPage County Health Department on Sunday reported 207 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 4 deaths: 1 man in his 70s, 1 women in her 80s and 2 men in their 80s.

It was the fewest cases reported since Dec. 26.

The county now has seen a total of 63,194 coronavirus cases including 1,024 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Jan. 5 was 98.0%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased slightly to 10.6%. Currently, 18.3% of medical/surgical beds are available and 21.9% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and five consecutive days under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 12.2%, and DuPage County is at 9.7%.

Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 72 available, staffed ICU beds out of 324 total and 364 ventilators available out of 581.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,711 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 81 additional deaths Sunday.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate increased from 8.3% to 7.9%.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,367 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,381, Lombard 3,266, Villa Park 1,960, Hinsdale 990, Westmont 1,598, Darien 1,292, Woodridge 2,003, Downers Grove 2,945, Elmhurst 3,279, Warrenville 1,015 and Winfield 820. Addison has had 3,944 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,337, Carol Stream 3,449 and West Chicago 3,508.
