Former treasurer accused of stealing $13,000 from Woodridge school PTO: prosecutors

Gavel

The former treasurer of the Goodrich Elementary School PTO in Woodridge is facing charges that she allegedly stole about $13,000 from the organization, prosecutors said.

A DuPage County grand jury Tuesday returned a two-count indictment against Amanda Piasecki, 39, of the 6500 block of Winston Drive, Woodridge, alleging one count of theft - $10,000-$100,000 and one count of theft - $500-$10,000, according to a DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office news release.

On April 1, Judge Jill Otte issued an arrest warrant for Piasecki. Early Thursday morning, Piasecki turned herself in to authorities at the DuPage County Jail, authorities said.

Charges against Piasecki are non-detainable, so she was released from custody following her appearance in First Appearance Court, according to the release.

Piasecki served as the treasurer of the Goodrich Elementary School PTO. In the capacity, she had access to the organization’s funds.

The school is part of Woodridge School District 68.

According to the indictment, between May 1, 2024, and Sept. 4, 2025, Piasecki allegedly “exerted unauthorized control over property of the Goodrich Parent Teacher Organization…being United States currency having a total value exceeding ten thousand dollars…” Piasecki allegedly stole about $13,062.97, according to the release.

“Through her alleged actions, Ms. Piasecki abused the trust placed in her by the Goodrich Elementary School PTO for her own personal gain,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in the release. “This money, approximately $13,000, was intended to be used for the benefit of the children of the school, not for Ms. Piasecki’s personal use, as is alleged in this case.”

“The Goodrich PTO has been advised of these charges against a former PTO board member. This individual no longer has access to PTO finances, and the board will continue to cooperate fully with authorities,” according to a statement from the Goodrich PTO board. “We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and the continued support of our school community.”

Piasecki’s next court date is scheduled for April 6.
