Morris Lions prepare new additions to Fall Classic Car Show

Show will be Oct. 9-10 at Grundy County Fairgrounds

MORRIS – The Morris Lions are making final preparations for the 35th Fall Classic Car Show, taking place at the Grundy County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Oct. 9, and Sunday, Oct. 10. This year, there will be some new additions as well as the familiar Sunday Classic Car Show, Swap Meet and Car Corral.

On Saturday, in addition to the Swap Meet and Car Corral, there will be an Orphan Car/Truck Show for vehicles in which the manufacturer is no longer in business, or the model is no longer made. Come out to see orphan cars from 1900-present on Saturday, with registration from 8 a.m. to noon for $20 for each vehicle and one passenger. The same fee will apply on Sunday for the regular car show.

Spectators on both days will be able to park on site for a $5 a person each day, with children younger than 12 free. Also new on Sunday, the field will be divided into two areas, one side for cars that are to be judged, and one side for cars that will not be judged. Both days will be participant-judged shows, organized through 3-D Sound, where car owners will receive ballots to judge cars for each class.

Another new addition to this year’s show will be the Crafty Swappers Craft Show with all sorts of craft vendors on both days in the commercial building and nearby. Come out to see the many items available. As always, there will be many wonderful food vendors offering tasty treats, as well as the many items in the Swap Meet area and vehicles for sale in the Car Corral.

The Morris Lions also will be selling raffle tickets for this year’s car giveaway, a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 Convertible, which will be given away at about 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 each, three for $10, or seven for $20. Remember that there are 10 prizes in all. In addition, the 50/50 prize ticket will be drawn following the drawing for the raffle car. Tickets also are available before the show online at morrislionsclub.com.
