St. Juvin Post 1336 offers new historical booklet

Can be found at Coal City Public Library

St. Juvin VFW Post 1336 has prepared a revised edition of its booklet outlining its history of veterans and community service.

The previous edition was published in 2017 as part of Post 1336’s observance of the U.S. involvement in WWI, as all but one charter member was a WWI veteran.

Recent research has unearthed additional information about the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in and around St. Juvin France at the close of military operations and the armistice ending combat in WWI.

These pamphlets are offered through the post’s long-term partnership with the Coal City Public Library District’s local military history display, which houses the post’s original charter in a museum-grade preservation frame. The library also has an online version that can be viewed at www.ccpld.org/VFW.html. Click on the upper right “Booklet about the VFW St. Juvin Post 1336”

As St. Juvin Post 1336 prepares for its 100th year of continuous service to veterans and the community, it is important to remind all of the sacrifices made by the few for the many, even though these sacrifices were made more than 100 years ago.
