The Lake County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners in the St. Patrick’s Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Drive High. Get a DUI” enforcement campaign.
During the campaign from March 13 through March 23, deputies logged 79 hours of dedicated enforcement time and made 122 traffic stops with the following results: two arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol; 18 arrests for driving without a valid driver’s license; two arrests of persons with arrest warrants; one arrest for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance – cocaine; one arrest for possession of 15 – 100 grams of cocaine; one arrest for unlawful possession of 500 – 2,000 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver; four citations for possession of drug paraphernalia; 18 speeding citations; 19 citations for failure to wear a seatbelt; two citations for improperly restrained children; and 83 other traffic citations.
This traffic safety campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
