The successful interior designer and founder of Michelle’s Interiors in Grayslake accepted a prestigious “Enterprising Women of the Year” award in New Orleans during Enterprising Women magazine’s annual awards celebration and conference at the Hyatt Regency from March 8 to 10.

The international event brings together the world’s top women entrepreneurs to share best practices and celebrate excellence in leadership.

Rohrer-Lauer has been designing one-of-a-kind homes for her clients for more than 30 years from her busy Grayslake studio, winning numerous design awards, including six from ASID, the American Society of Interior Designers, Illinois Chapter and several from IDS, the Interior Design Society.

She is known for her energy, creativity, attention to detail and talent for making each home perfectly fit the people who live there.

“Being recognized as a successful businesswoman by Enterprising Women is a tremendous honor for me and my entire team,” Rohrer-Lauer said in a news release. “This award is a testament to our dedication to simply fabulous design for all of our clients.”

This annual awards program, now in its 24th year, is one of the most prestigious recognition programs for women business owners in the U.S. and globally. To win this award, nominees must demonstrate that they lead fast-growth businesses, mentor other women and girls to success, and stand out as leaders in their communities.

“Ever since I was very young and making furnishings for my Barbie Dream Home, I knew I wanted to become a successful interior designer with my own studio,” Rohrer-Lauer said in the release. “I am proud to join this elite group of businesswomen who are shaping the future of global entrepreneurship.”

Rohrer-Lauer has earned numerous Accolades for her thoughtful and inventive designs throughout her long and successful career. Before opening Michelle’s Interiors, she was co-owner of a children’s boutique whose clients included several of the 1986 Super Bowl-winning Chicago Bears.
