The St. Charles Police Department continues to investigate a fatal crash at the entrance to the Main Street Commons shopping center in St. Charles that killed a pedestrian.
Killed was Matthew Dickens, 44, of St. Charles. No tickets have been issued in the crash at this time.
At 5:52 p.m. Dec. 10, St. Charles police and fire departments responded to a crash with injuries that occurred along the shopping center access drive to the Main Street Commons shopping center in the 3600 block of East Main Street, according to an email from St. Charles Police Department Deputy Chief Erik Mahan.
A Honda CR-V was driving north toward East Main Street when Dickens stepped in the path of the vehicle and was hit, Mahan said in the email. He was treated and transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva and died of his injuries on Dec. 12.
