Alcohol may have been a factor in a fatal car crash near Hampshire early Sunday after a Carpentersville man driving west on Route 20 left the roadway and hit a tree, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office said.
Killed was Adrian Guzman-Vargas, 49, of Carpentersville. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.
About 4:30 a.m., Kane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a single vehicle accident in the 44W300 block of Route 20 in unincorporated Hampshire, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, deputies found a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck against a tree with Guzman-Vargas inside.
