Kirk Road construction starting up in St. Charles area

Kane County Division of Transportation urges drivers to reduce speed in construction zone

Traffic is expected to be congested along Kirk Road in the St. Charles area starting the week of April 6 as workers close lanes throughout the construction zone.

Workers are focusing on the area along Kirk Road from Illinois Route 64 to Illinois Route 38. The work stretches from St. Charles south through Kane County.

Starting the week of April 6, road repairs are being made along Kirk Road from Illinois Route 64 to Illinois Route 38 near the St. Charles area in Kane County.

Crews will be on site 7 a.m to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Kirk Road is remaining open to traffic, with flaggers guiding cars through the area. The closed lanes will vary throughout the project, according to a release by the Kane County Division of Transportation.

“These closures are expected to impact traffic in the area,” the division said in the release.

Staff said to expect delays and to consider alternate routes. Drivers are urged to reduce their speed and watch for construction workers and vehicles entering and leaving the site.

The full project entails patching, concrete median removal and replacement, concrete curb and gutter removal and replacement, and sidewalk ramp improvements.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of July.

Construction workers are also working on a separate project further west in the county along Randall, Burlington and Silver Glen roads.
