Elburn Days shuts down early Saturday amid storms

Elburn Days shut down early Saturday as lightning and rainstorms moved through the area.

Organizers announced on Facebook at about 6:30 p.m. that the annual Lions Club carnival and festival would shut down.

Activities are due to continue Sunday.

Elburn Days opened Friday and is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Lions Club and includes carnival rides, live entertainment on multiple stages, a beer garden and more.

The history of the festival dates to 1933 and began as A Day in the Park.

Storms caused heavy damage in parts of the Chicago area.
