IDNR biologist to talk at Peru pond clinic

Expert to discuss construction, stocking rates, weed control, aeration, species suitability

Bill and Cheri Schmitt’s garden features a koi and goldfish pond as well as a large, natural swimming pond that includes a waterfall surrounded by boulders.

The La Salle County Soil & Water Conservation District along with the Bureau County Soil & Water Conservation District will be co-hosting a pond clinic from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Peru City Hall, 1901 Fourth St.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Biologist David Wyffels will discuss construction, stocking rates, weed control, aeration and species suitability. Contact the La Salle County SWCD office at 815-433-0551, ext. 3, by Feb. 20, for a reservation. Seating is limited.
