Utica firefighters Jodi Henry and Bonnie Pawlak exhaust fan across the gates to the Starved Rock Lock and Dam on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026 near Utica. A light haze of smoke was coming from inside the Peru Hydroelectric Power Plant. Fire departments from Tonica, La Salle, Wallace, Tonica, Peru and Utica all responded to the scene.
